Focus on Faith & Disability: a Kirklees Faiths Forum event

Representatives from the local faith communities will speak on the topic of faith and disability, followed by keynote speakers: Kitty McGeever from "Emmerdale" and Ajmal Masroor; Director of Communities in Action

 

 Kitty McGeever; Kitty plays Lizzie Lakely in Emmerdale, the first permanent blind character in a British soap.  She has also appeared in Pie In The Sky and London’s Burning, and is a seasoned stand-up performer.  Since going blind in her early thirties, Kitty has been challenging stereotypes and using her humour and resilience to cope with the experiences life has thrown at her.
 
Ajmal Masroor; director of Communities in Action and Lib Dem MP for Bethnal Green and Bow in East London.  Ajmal provides consultancy and support to media and various government agencies on Muslim issues, and regularly appears on national TV and radio as well as having his own show on the Islam Channel.
