An event for anyone involved in mediation
In collaboration with Belief in Mediation and Arbitration, St Ethelburga's Centre brings you an event for mediators of any kind to explore the question of how we deal with a palpable but unspoken "elephant" in the room?
As a mediator, if you have a strong suspicion that one or both parties harbour a resentment based on a protected characteristic such as gender, race, age, religious belief, sexual orientation etc or even an unprotected characteristic such as education or socioeconomic background, what can you do?
Should a mediator push the boundaries to release "the elephant"? How do you contain it? What if the elephant is one or both of the parties faiths?
Explore these questions and share practice.
